Fight Against Drugs in Ottoor: 'Operation Toofan 2.0' Launched in Grama Panchayat OTTOOR: 'Operation Toofan 2.0', a statewide initiative aimed at making the Grama Panchayat completely drug-free, has been launched in Ottoor. The official inauguration of the project was carried out by the Grama Panchayat President during a ceremony held at the Grama Panchayat Hall on October 2nd. In the inaugural address, the Grama Panchayat President emphasized that strong community resistance is essential to curb drug trafficking and usage, as well as to protect the younger generation from the clutches of substance abuse. The project is being implemented in the Grama Panchayat under the slogan 'I Am the Guardian of My Homeland'. It was decided at the meeting to execute extensive awareness and preventive campaigns across various wards of the Panchayat in the coming days. Key Decisions and Upcoming Activities: * Formation of Toofan Warriors: A dedicated volunteer force called 'Toofan Warriors' will be formed in every ward by coordinating ward-level vigilance committees, Kudumbashree, youth clubs, and volunteers. * School-Level Vigilance: Special awareness programs and anti-drug pledges will be organized focusing on schools within the Panchayat. * Community Surveillance: Measures will be put in place to report suspicious activities or drug sales to the police and excise authorities at the local level. * Treatment and Rehabilitation: Individuals struggling with drug addiction will be identified and provided with necessary counseling and rehabilitation treatment. Elected representatives, Panchayat officials, ward vigilance committee members, and representatives of community forums attended the inauguration ceremony. The governing body urged all residents of Ottoor to unite and participate in this fight against drugs.
